There’s no denying that The Iron Giant is a fan favorite. Throw in the digitally remastered signature edition that will be hitting big screens across America on September 30th and October 4th, and you’ve got a mixture that might jump-start thoughts of a sequel. Vin Diesel, the voice behind the Giant knows, and sometimes harnesses, the Social Media power of his fans and this time he’s dropped a bomb shell on them. Could Warner Bros. be about to announce an Iron Giant sequel after all these years?
Here’s how Diesel started Iron Giant ripples across the Internet over the weekend:
I have been very lucky to have played so many interesting characters… one of the first and one of my favorites is… the Iron Giant.P.s. Don’t be surprised when you hear WB announce the sequel.
If director Brad Bird is involved, which one would expect as The Iron Giant is his baby, then I am all for more adventure with Hogarth and the Giant. The movie ended with a hopeful note.
What do you think? The Iron Giant was a look at the hysteria caused by the Cold War and people’s fears of destruction and Atomic War. I’m not sure where the sequel would go at this point.
I wouldn’t want to see something that just had aliens attacking or something like that, perhaps the sequel flashes forward to present day. Hogarth is old, has grandchildren, the Iron Giant hasn’t kept up with the technological advances that Mankind has gone through this he first landed on Earth. Perhaps the government or some big corporation has been secretly working on creating their own Iron Giant that ends up going amok and the original has to come out to save the day?
