The new TV season will kick off in just a couple of weeks, but Arrow fans will have to wait a couple of weeks longer then that for the premiere of the new adventures of the vigilante from Star
ling City and his super friends to debut. In the mean time, let’s tide you over with a brand new look at the new season. A full trailer was posted online after being shown at Dragon Con last weekend, and even though this new one is a scant 30 second long it does offer one intriguing new thing, and that’s the first time a character from the show is called by his proper comic book name.
Voila! The new preview from the CW.
Did you hear that? Damien Darhk (Neal McDonough) used the name “Green Arrow” in reference to the the man causing him all kinds of trouble. It would be the first time since an early first season episode, where Malcolm Merlyn (John Barrowman) used the term jokingly, that the hero played by Stephen Amell is called “Green Arrow.” It will be interesting to see how the residents of Star City play dumb with the difference between Arrow and Green Arrow all things considered.
Another vexing thing: the promo is called “Embrace Your Dark Side,” which kind of belies previous statements about how this season was going to be lighter, and even the tone of this very spot seems particularly playful with Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) remarking how it’s “just like old times,” and with Thea (Willa Holland) loving life as the sidekick Speedy. It is Amanda Waller (Cynthia Addai-Robinson) that’s saying it, so maybe the darkness is more flashback related, which would make sense with where we left off with Oliver torturing a guy for kicks five years earlier.
Arrow returns Wednesday October 7 at 8 pm on the CW. We will, of course, be covering every episode as they hit the airwaves.
