Film director and producer John Landis (An American Werewolf in London) dropped some major (and majorly unexpected) news last night at the 25th annual Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Orlando! The subject of Landis’ big reveal? Star Wars.
Empire has reported:
“At a Q&A tonight John Landis dropped that Disney are finally going to re-release the theatrical cuts of the original Star Wars trilogy.”
Landis assured the audience that this info came from his friend George Lucas himself. Here are the tweets:
It’s already common knowledge to true Star Wars and/or Disney fans that there are already plans to release complete, unaltered, original form Blu-ray editions of A New Hope, Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi. What Landis seems to be hinting at is an additional move by Disney to put those raw versions, sans special edition SFX, back in theaters once again.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens hits theaters December 18, 2015.
