So let’s take a break from hating the new TV season to think about something much happier: Star Wars. Now, Star Wars: The Force Awakens is less than three months away from being seen by nerds worldwide, and if you’d like to take a break from admiring your new Star Wars merch from The Force Awakens, we’d like you to consider some words from actor John Boyega. Apparently, the script for the film made him cry, which is interesting because it implies that they let him read the whole script, an oddity for such a huge movie. But seriously, Boyega has some interesting insights – non-spoilery – about what we might expect in The Force Awakens.

So he cried? “When I read the script I cried, and I’m not really a big crier… I’m more like a frog-in-the- throat kind of guy, who’ll try to hold it in and make sure I don’t let it all out,” Boyega told GQ.

Interesting. What would possibly make Boyega cry? Perhaps the death of a beloved childhood icon? Or maybe J.J. Abrams really dug deep for the Star Wars screenplay and it contains what is literally his best work. A goal pretty easy to vault for the co-screenwriter of Armageddon, but maybe his words are pure poetry in this one.

Boyega also talked about his character Finn, who, along with Daisy Ridley as Rey and Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron ,are the three new leads of the movie. “Finn is dope,” Boyega said. “His story is so epic. It’s a story that’s never been seen before, but it also mirrors the stories of Luke Skywalker and Han Solo. And he’s quirky and charismatic and funny. For me, he was the best character in the script.”

Obvious, Boyega would think that his character is the best in the movie, but to imply he’s the heady combination of both Han and Luke? Well that will be a sight to see if true. Maybe Boyega was emotional because he was getting to play someone who combined his two favorite characters from the trilogy. I guess we will find out for ourselves when The Force Awakens opens on December 18.
