It wouldn’t be too far of a stretch to assume that Jared Leto is likely a solitary individual. In addition to his penchant for method acting, Leto has never been considered one of Hollywood’s more friendly individuals. Add this to his acquired-taste style of music and rock star life and it is easy to see why many fans tend to shy away from the actor, even when he isn’t sporting the bright green hair of a fan favorite psychopath. Well, his first outing as The Joker has been completed and Leto believes that his take on the character will have even more people steering clear of his path.
When Suicide Squad director, David Ayer, unleashed the first official photo of Leto as the iconic arch-nemesis of Batman, the internet went wild. The photo gave the world a Joker that they had never seen before and many were unhappy with the product. In case you have, somehow, forgotten, take another look:

The tattoos, gold grill, and physique definitely had fans in a frenzy. This is not the Joker that immediately comes to mind when discussing the Clown Prince of Crime. Still, early buzz has Leto’s take pretty much demolishing any other incarnation of the character ever seen on screen. Leto apparently agrees. While taking part in a Q&A at Dubai Music Week, the Suicide Squad actor spotted a “brave” attendee sporting a Batman shirt, which elicited a maniacal laugh from the actor before Leto bragged to the attendee:
“I can’t wait for you to see this. They’re going to lock me away in a box after this movie comes out.”
Leto has been rumored to have stayed in character throughout the filming of Suicide Squad, going so far as to present actress Margot Robbie, who will be playing Harley Quinn in the film, a gift comprised of a black box with a live rat inside, and co-star Will Smith, Suicide Squad’s Deadshot, a letter containing live bullets. This is, of course, besides sending the entire cast a dead hog along with a video of himself in character. Does any of this guarantee that Leto’s Joker will put all others to shame? Not at all. It does, however, show just how dedicated the actor is to the role, and in giving the world a performance to remember. If the trailer is any indication, Leto is likely to succeed.
Suicide Squad hits theaters on August 5, 2016.
Do you think Leto’s Joker will be something amazing or are you having doubts?
