So here’s a little backstory on the relationship between Feige and Perlmutter. About a month ago Feige and Perlmutter had a bit of a separation at Marvel Studios. Feige gained tighter control over the MCU while Perlmutter remained in control of almost all things Marvel on the small screen such as Daredevil and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. At the same time, Feige would no longer be reporting to Perlmutter (like he had in the past). Instead he would be reporting directly to Alan Horn, who is the chairman of Walt Disney Studios.
And now back to the original reason why you’re here. This rumor, apparently, comes from “connected sources” overheard at a New York bar. Understandably, this doesn’t sound very reliable. You have to remember, though, that New York Comic Con is going on right now, so there is some chance that there’s some validity to this rumor.
This new is a bit of a disappointment and comes at a very interesting time. Keep in mind that this is coming right off the announcement of the MCU rescheduling. Inhumans was originally supposed to come out in 2018, but had been pushed to 2019. Now it’s been “cancelled” all together. So what can fans expect out of this rumor? Well, for starters, if you’re up to date with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., then you should know that the Inhumans are playing an important role in the current story line. One thought is that this was a move pulled off by Feige to keep the MCU completely free of any influence from Perlmutter. What if it were the opposite and this was a move pulled off by Perlmutter? The latter makes more sense because the Inhumans are already a major part of Marvel Television. It just seems that this would be an easier thing to pull off by Perlmutter than by Feige.
