While doing some press for his new web series Con Man, Alan Tudyk made a few comments about his time working on the set of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. While his role on the movie is a closely guarded secret that no one has been able to pry out of Tudyk yet, his comments do offer an interesting perspective on how these latest Star Wars movies are being made.
Now for all we really know he could be somewhere in this cast picture, but I kind of doubt it. Here’s what Tudyk had to say about the sets of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story:
You are amazed at what you can look at, because it is a physical world. If there are creatures, then there are creatures; if there are spaceships, then there are spaceships. It’s not huge swaths of green hung from the rafters. You have it all there, and if you don’t have it there then you go fly some place that does.
I can’t tell you how much those comments reassure me about how Disney and LucasFilm are producing these latest Star Wars movies. Gone are the abundant green screens for the much more reliable practical effects.
It will be interesting to find out which side of the conflict Tudyk’s character falls, the rebels, the Empire, or perhaps someone caught in between the two? Rogue One: A Star Wars Story hits theater screens December 16th, 2016.
