We’ve all been here before. There’s a movie we love and the actors who starred in it. It’s been 25 years since it premiered in theaters and then silence. The story had ended and everyone had moved on. One day someone asks one of the stars if they’d ever do a sequel to the last movie. Of course they’d say yes, but it’s only an answer to a question. So, what movie is it and who is it this time? Last time we had the Firefly cast saying they would do a second season. Now we have Christopher Lloyd saying he would do a Back to the Future IV, but you won’t believe the incredible circumstances for this to happen.

Doc Brown is always going to be an iconic character from an iconic movie, and for that reason, fans will jump on any possibility of continuing the original story with the original actors. In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Lloyd said he would love to play the Doc again in a new movie.

“I would love to do Doc again, no question … It’s tough to come up with an idea that contains the excitement of the original three. So it would be a real challenge for the writers to come up with an original Back to the Future story that has the same passion and intensity and excitement as the other three. But it could be done, you never know.”

Why do we even report on these things? We do it because even it takes for all of the planets to align with the sun, there is still a sliver of hope that something might happen. And, if there is one thing people love doing, it’s hoping for things – a new car, winning the lottery, and world peace for example.

So, if Christopher Lloyd has said yes, there’s a chance that others may want to do another Back to the Future. Soon everything would fall into place. Even Robert Zemeckis may want to do it. What about Michael J. Fox and his Parkinsons? Doc Brown has that covered as well.

“I think regardless of the Parkinson’s, he’d probably jump on the role and he’d be great. I can’t see doing another sequel without him. I would certainly want Bob Zemeckis directing it, Bob Gale writing it and the other principals being involved.”

At this point, fans may have to sacrifice a goat, but if it meant a fourth installment of the time traveling movie would get made, then farmers beware.

Now if things really did come together and a fourth movie was made, where do you even begin to tell the story? If you recall, the time machine was destroyed, Doc married and had kids, and Marty was happy to have time with Jennifer. Let’s not go with a kid themed movie, The Goonies’ sequel already has that covered.

Well, if a movie gets made or not, one thing is for sure. Christopher Lloyd certainly loves the role of Doc Brown. Given the opportunity, he’ll keep playing him, but a movie would have to be perfect. For now you can check out Christopher Lloyd in the new LEGO Dimensions video game, where he lent his voice to play a LEGO version of Doc Brown.
