The hunt is on for Channing Tatum and 20th Century Fox. After director Rupert Wyatt left the Gambit scene due to creative differences, potential names have been popping up, all to hopefully take over the vacant position. As of a few days ago, the latest rumored candidate was Doug Liman, Edge of Tomorrow director, but it seems that two new names have been added to the wish list since then. Heroic Hollywood reported the details on the latest possibilities.
Inside sources told them that Joe Cornish is also being eyed for the job. Cornish directed the sci-fi adventure flick Attack the Block, and also worked on Ant-Man’s script with Edgar Wright, so he’s no stranger to the comic-verse.
Shane Black is the second new name, his most recent work being his directing of Iron Man 3. He’s also currently developing a new Predator film.
All three of these guys seem more than qualified to really make this movie memorable; fans shouldn’t be too worried on this one. There doesn’t seem to be a bad choice, or even a weak link!
Gambit’s script was written by Josh Zetumer, which is based off of a treatment by Chris Claremont, Gambit co-creator.
