Just when you think you’ve seen it all, Chewbacca gets arrested in the Ukraine. Yes, that’s the same country that recently converted a statue of Lenin into Darth Vader and frequently has someone ruling for office as the Dark Sith Lord. (There were at least 16 in the last parliamentary elections.) Those Ukrainians love their Star Wars. In a twist of Star Wars lore, Chewbacca was detained while on the way to vote for Darth Vader in a local mayoral election when he refused to present proper identification. Then what happened?
Well, the police cuffed him, took him to jail and then court. Here’s the video of Chewbacca’s capture.
Then we’ve got this tweet showing Chewbacca’s court appearance:

In fact, not only was Chewbacca there to vote for Darth Vader, he drove Darth to the polling site as explained in this police statement:
Nothing unusual here, just Chewbacca detained for being without documents while driving Darth Vader to the elections in Odessa. The Sith Lord has already claimed this was illegal as Chewbacca is his pet and general servant and thus does not require documents.
My question is where the hell is Han Solo? You don’t leave your co-pilot/wing-man hanging in the breeze Solo. It’s just not done. I guess the judge never heard that he should let the Wookie win because he fined him $7.50. That’s one important thing I’ve learned about Cosplay… always sew pockets into your costume to put your I.D., cash, and phone.
