Belief in the power of that huge The Walking Dead fan base can once again be seen in AMC‘s move to green-light a six episode reality series, Ride With Norman Reedus. As the title suggests, viewers will be taken on a journey through motorcycle culture with Norman Reedus as he bikes around the country. His The Walking Dead motorcycle riding character Daryl Dixon has been a huge part of the popularity of the series and now he’ll take his real life love affair with motorcycles on the road.

Norman Reedus tweeted this today:

You might remember that just a year ago, AMC dumped all but Talking Dead and Comic Book Men from their unscripted programming. So this would be a kind of a surprise if not for the name recognition, popularity, and network connection of the actor involved.

Joel Stillerman, President of Original Programming & Development for AMC and SundanceTV had this to say about the new series:

We love being the home of people’s passion projects, and there is nobody more passionate about motorcycles than Norman Reedus . He is an avid rider and aficionado who is deeply immersed in motorcycle culture. There is also nobody more fun to hang out with. This show will bring those two elements together for a weekly ride into the incredible world of motorcycles and the people who live and breathe them.

Ride with Norman Reedus will hit television screens sometime in 2016 featuring looks at motorcycle collections, craftsmen, bike shops, tattoo parlors and all the other places that one might expect to find motorcycle enthusiasts.

Norman will take these rides with a companion each episode, and it appears that person will change with each episode and are said to include a fellow actor, musician, friend, or local chopper fanatic who shares his passion for motorcycles.

Fans of The Walking Dead shouldn’t worry that this might signal the end of his character Daryl on The Walking Dead. The production of this reality style series will easily fit into the current filming schedule of The Walking Dead.
