It’s a bromance for the ages. While it’s still unknown whether Thor: Ragnarok will explore Bruce Banner‘s relationship with the meaner and greener side of himself, we know it will show us more of the friendship between Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) and Thor (Chris Hemsworth). Ruffalo went as far as to describe the upcoming Marvel film as “a buddy picture,” although even in the tightest of friendships there are bound to be squabbles. For two superheros, however, “squabbles” is definitely an understatement. During his press events to promote his new movie Spotlight, Ruffalo spoke of Thor: Ragnarok. He said this to the New York Daily News:
“I don’t really know that much about it, but I think it’s going to be a buddy picture with Thor and Bruce Banner,”
He went on to add:
“I think they’ll probably fight,”
“There’s no doubt, everyone wants us to fight at one point.”
Well, it has been quite a while since their last go at each other in the first Avengers movie. And it seems like Hulk might be one to hold a grudge.
Friendship aspect aside, Ruffalo had this to say about the actual plot of Thor: Ragnarok:
“I know that it’s about (the Norse legends of) ‘Ragnarok,’ or the end times in the Marvel universe as it pertains to Thor — which seems to be quite the theme these days in movies,”
There’s also that unconfirmed rumor about a possible cosmic road trip these two guys could be embarking on (perfect for buddy bonding), but that’s all hear-say for now.
Directed by Taika Waititi (What We Do in the Shadows) and also starring Tom Hiddleston and Jaimie Alexander, Thor: Ragnarok hits theaters on November 2, 2017.
