It’s the opinion of this writer that Michael Keaton will always be the best Batman/Bruce Wayne when it comes to the big screen version of the Dark Knight. There are definitely honorable mentions, but Keaton will always be the best because he was the first. And the best part is that he hit the nail right on the head. Who can forget that scene inside Vicky Vale’s apartment when the Joker shows up? “You wanna get nuts? C’mon! Let’s get nuts…” So when Michael Keaton says Batman would win a brawl with other superheroes, he means it. Even more so, Keaton probably means that he, Michael Keaton, would win.

Keaton and Mark Ruffalo have recently been making their rounds promoting their new film, Spotlight. During an interview with ABC News Radio, the pair were asked which one of their superhero counterparts would win in a fight. Keaton responded,

“Everyone needs to stop asking the question of who could beat up who. Batman kicks everybody’s a**. And if they won’t, I will, Bruce Wayne will.”

First of all, let’s remind everyone that Ruffalo is the current Hulk in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The last time Keaton dressed up as Batman was in 1992 when he starred in Batman Returns. The most interesting part of the quote is where Keaton says, “And if they won’t, I will, Bruce Wayne will.” When he says, “I,” is he referring to himself or Bruce Wayne? Does he think he’s actually Bruce Wayne? You can’t put it past him.

As far as who would win in a fight, Batman would definitely put up one heck of a defense. Remember the movie Justice League: Doom? In that movie, Vandal Savage is able to infiltrate Batman’s computer and steal the files he keeps on his Justice League buddies. Unfortunately, all of those files contain the weaknesses of the other members. Thus allowing Savage to nearly defeat the League.

Leave it to a serious case of paranoia, but Batman always finds a way to overcome some of life’s major obstacles. He’s one of the greatest detectives of all time for a reason.
