legends of today
The last time The Flash and the Green Arrow teamed up it was to take down the Reverse Flash. The time before that, they took down a meta-human. Now, they’re teaming for what could be their biggest threat yet – Vandal Savage. That’s right. Take a moment to let that sink in. The next cross over between The Flash and the Green Arrow is going to set up The Legends of Tomorrow. And from what has been said about it, this is going to be a lot of fun to watch.

It’s kind of funny if you think about it. The Flash wears Red and the Green Arrow wears…well…Green. It’s like Christmas has come a little early. Anyways, things start off on The Flash. The episode will be titled, “Legends of Today,” and the synopsis is as follows,

“In its second major crossover event with “Arrow,” Vandal Savage (guest star Casper Crump) arrives in Central City and sets his sights on Kendra Saunders (guest star Ciara Renée). After Vandal attacks Kendra and Cisco, they turn to Barry for help. Realizing how dangerous Vandal is, Barry takes Kendra to Star City and asks Oliver and team to hide her until he can figure out how to stop Vandal. However, things quickly go from bad to worse when a man with wings AKA Hawkman (guest star Falk Hentschel) shows up and flies off with Kendra. Meanwhile, Harrison develops a serum to make Barry run faster and asks Jay (guest star Teddy Sears) to test it out.”

First of all, you have to wonder if that serum will give back Jay’s speed. Second of all, Vandal Savage. So who is Vandal Savage? This guy might be the last person on Earth you would want to pick a fight with in a bar. He also could be the last person on Earth one day since he’s immortal. The TL:DR version is that he came across a meteor one day and it gave him powers.

Besides his immortality, he became stronger, faster, and smarter. Due to his longevity, he’s attained an immense amount of knowledge, he’s a skilled fighter with weapons, and a great strategist. Although immortal, he does have a vulnerability. His immortality comes from within, meaning his internal organs are pretty much impervious to any kind of damage. However, he can be hurt externally. So, if you cut an arm off, he can’t grow it back. He also still feels pain, but because he’s so used to it, he’s able to shrug it off.

From here the story will carry over to Arrow. The title of that episode will be “Legends of Yesterday.” Here is what the synopsis for that episode will be,

“Oliver and Barry Allen take Kendra Saunders and Carter Hall to a remote location to keep them hidden from Vandal Savage while they figure out how to defeat him. Malcolm arranges a meeting between Vandal, Green Arrow and The Flash that doesn’t go as planned. Meanwhile, Felicity, Thea, Diggle and Laurel work with Team Flash to come up with a weapon powerful enough to destroy Vandal Savage.”

The big question here is what are they going to come up with to defeat Vandal Savage? The thing about Savage is that, other than his immortalioty, he doesn’t have any other extraordinary powers. He can’t shoot laser beams from his eyes or fly. He has the power of waiting because one day you’ll die and he won’t.

Whatever they plan to defeat him, it’s going to be awesome. Besides in the movies or in a cartoon, when was the last time you saw such a huge gathering of masked heroes? Sorry, but comic conventions don’t count. As a parting gift, in case you haven’t seen them yet, here’s a shot of Hawkman and Hawkgirl from the upcoming crossover.

The Flash “Legends of Today” will air on December 1st. Arrow “Legends of Yesterday” will air on December 2nd.
