Over the weekend, Ridley Scott let slip the new title for the sequel to Prometheus, Alien: Covenant. Now 20th Century Fox has confirmed that title change and released an official synopsis along with the premiere date of October 6th, 2017 for the film. There’s an interesting lack of mention for Noomi Rapace‘s Elizabeth Shaw in the synopsis… what might that mean for the character and movie? Here’s the tweet from 20th Century Fox:

Now on to that synopsis:

Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created in ALIEN with ALIEN: COVENANT, the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with PROMETHEUS — and connects directly to Scott’s 1979 seminal work of science fiction. Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.

Hmm, does this mean that we won’t see Rapace at all, or does it mean we’ll see her in the flashbacks as the crew of the colony ship finds out what happened from David? This could explain the Internet rumors that we’d be getting of two monsters in this latest Aliens film. One for Rapace and Fassbender’s time in the past and one that the colony ship crew must face in the present.

Even more likely would be that the monster would evolve from its first appearance because of the interaction between it and Rapace. Could she end up being the “Mother of Monsters” in the Alien franchise?

What’s your take on this synopsis and the lack of Rapace?
