If you think Mark Hamill might drop a hint or let some Star Wars: The Force Awakens tid-bit before the December 18th premiere, you can forget it. The man is tight-lipped for a very good reason, the dreaded NDA (None Disclosure Agreement), and once again in true Hollywood style, it’s all about the Benjamins.
Hamill recently talked with PC Gamer about his upcoming role in Star Citizen’s Squadron 42 single-player module, a Wing Commander style game and he had some things to say about on set secrets and how things have changed since the 70’s.
When we made the original films, you had the odd reporter hanging around the studio bribing people to give them stories. Now, I said to them, ‘Do I really have to wear this robe and this hood that covers my entire head to go from the trailer to the soundstage?’ They said, ‘Yeah, there’s drones.’ Seriously! There’s drones flying over the studio trying to get pictures of whatever they can get pictures of.
Here’s Hamill in his Motion Capture get up talking about secrets:
While he doesn’t actually say Star Wars: The Force Awakens is the secret he is holding onto tightly until it comes out, but it has to be. While the money is sure to be a factor for Hamill; he is a working actor that likes to be paid for his craft, from what I have seen in past interviews and panels, Hamill also doesn’t want to ruin things early for fans. He wants them to have that “Oh Shit Vader is Luke’s father” moment in the theater and we love him for that.
