In what could be the most sought-after role of all time, reports are coming out that over 2500 actors have auditioned or been auditioned for the role of Han Solo in the upcoming spinoff planned for 2018. It looks like Disney doesn’t want to take any chances in messing this one up, but f there’s a little voice in the back in all of our minds whispering to us, “They’re still going to mess this up…” If Disney is reading this, there might be a solution to all of your problems.
First of all, there’s a sure bet some of you are wondering who has auditioned for the role so far. Well, as it turns out, some of those names include Ansel Elgort, Dave Franco, Tom Felton, Leo Howard, Logan Lerman, Jack Reynor, Max Thieriot, Miles Teller, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Nick Robinson, Tony Oller, Chandler Riggs, Hunter Parish, Landon Liboiron, Ed Westwick, Joshua Sasse, Colton Haynes and Rami Malek.
You can’t really say no to someone who wants to audition. If I could have it my way, none of these people would get the role. That’s not to say that these are all terrible actors. In fact, some of these guys have done well in several films. Then there are some who are a little more questionable than others.
When Harrison Ford was cast for the role, the only big role he had previous to Star Wars was in American Graffiti. It would only be fitting if someone similar filled the role. Preferably, someone who has almost nothing on their resume would get the part. Drama majors need not apply. Someone with a fresh face is needed for this role. One that’s so fresh that you can’t criticize them because there’s nothing to criticize. Maybe someone like me? However, unless Han Solo was a chubby Asian guy, I don’t think I’ll be getting the role anytime soon.
The Han Solo spinoff is scheduled to begin production in January 2017 with a release date of 2018. The film is being directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller.
