Star Wars The Force Awakens is only ten days away and I’m sure many of you are doing whatever you can to pass the time so that day can come sooner. Well here is something that you can work on while you’re waiting for the premiere. It’s a DIY X-Wing pilot helmet! More specifically, it’s Luke’s helmet. This project may look really hard and expensive, but thanks to the guys at the DIY Prop Shop, it’s super affordable and really easy. So get ready to make your own helmet and impress your friends.
Okay, before we get into things, check out the video that shows you how to do everything.
There, that wasn’t so bad, was it? So, for about $22, it looks like you can make your own X-Wing pilot helmet. Some things to note about the project. He used a ton of tape to get around actually coloring the helmet. For several more dollars, I’m sure you could step up your game and really make this helmet look amazing by using craft paints. I have to admit, while he was putting it all together, I didn’t think it was going to look good. In the end, though, he definitely proved me wrong as the entire thing looked good especially for having used duct tape and masking tape for a lot of the details.
Keep in mind though, that if you’re planning on bringing this helmet to the theaters for the premiere of The Force Awakens, you may have to change your plans. Certain theater chains like AMC have implemented restrictions as to what you can bring to the show. Items like lightsabers and masks will not be permitted. So double check with your theater before bringing the helmet. Otherwise have fun and stay safe!
Star Wars The Force Awakens opens in theaters on December 18.
