Star-Wars-Celebration-BTS-11

Whoever thought that waiting in line could be an experience you could be proud of. Just another example of the heartwarming happenings that Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens has spurred, (an advanced screening for a dying fan, Mark Hamill strolling along Hollywood Blvd. as a Stormtrooper for charity, and the tear-jerking story of R2-KT). The Star Wars community is now taking standing in line, one of the most monotonous tasks there is, and making more of their magic out of it.In an effort to raise funds for the Starlight Children’s Foundation, whose mission is to improve the life, health, and well-being of children and their families world-wide, fans started lining up outside Hollywood’s TCL Chinese Theater on December 5, 2015. These charitable souls will remain on line until December 18th, recreating “the classic line experience” as they wait to view arguably the year’s most anticipated film.

But it’s not just locals that are getting in on the giving. The event has a website and twitter page, equipped with pictures, additional information, and all set for donations. No donation goal has been set; they seem to want to just accomplish as much as they can. As of December 8, 2015, 128 people were doing their time on the line and earning those hours/dollars for charity. And with the more exposure this project gets, more members shouldn’t be far behind!

It’s not all giving and no getting, though. In the seemingly endless bag of new stuff to show us, Lucasfilm has unveiled a new character poster featuring the robot BB-8. For someone (something?) who has been a major figure in the film’s marketing, not to mention an integral character in the story, it’s about time BB-8 got a well-deserved close-up.

With already $50 million made in advanced ticket sales and only a little over one week before the film’s theatrical debut, you could probably already consider this installment (and all the good it has done and continues to do) a huge success.
