It’s been a very busy time for new trailers lately. Why? It’s Christmas time! With the end of the year pending, a lot of people are presumably going to have extra time for movie going over the next couple of weeks, with a maximum number of eyes in front of movie screens (and not just seeing Star Wars, a small independent movie that I hear has been getting some good buzz). Hollywood has a big slate on the books for 2016, and one of them is the following movie being teased. Want your first look at Fantastic Beats and Where to Find Them? That’s next week. This week we’ve got the tease.
Fantastic Beasts, as you may remember, is the latest adventure into the wizarding world of Harry Potter. It stars Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander, the author of the vaunted Hogwarts textbook that shares the name of the movie, and chronicles his quest to find and document all manner of magical creatures. The film is being written by Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling, and directed by David Yates, who made the back half of the original Harry Potter movie series.
First, a warning. There’s is absolutely no new footage in the below teaser.
You want the actual trailer? Stay tuned on December 15, 2015. Below is the plot synopsis from the Warner Bros. press release:
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them opens in 1926 as Newt Scamander has just completed a global excursion to find and document an extraordinary array of magical creatures. Arriving in New York for a brief stopover, he might have come and gone without incident… were it not for a No-Maj (American for Muggle) named Jacob, a misplaced magical case, and the escape of some of Newt’s fantastic beasts, which could spell trouble for both the wizarding and No-Maj worlds.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them also stars Katherine Waterston (Steve Jobs, Inherent Vice) as Tina; Tony Award winner Dan Fogler (The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee) as Jacob; Alison Sudol (Dig, Transparent) as Tina’s sister, Queenie; Ezra Miller (Trainwreck) as Credence; two-time Oscar nominee Samantha Morton (In America, Sweet and Lowdown) as Mary Lou; Oscar winner Jon Voight (Coming Home, TV’s Ray Donovan) as Henry Shaw, Sr.; Ron Perlman (the Hellboy films) as Gnarlack; Carmen Ejogo (Selma) as Seraphina; Jenn Murray (Brooklyn) as Chastity; young newcomer Faith Wood-Blagrove as Modesty; and Colin Farrell (True Detective) as Percival Graves.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will be in theaters everywhere on November 18, 2016.
