It’s been a busy couple of weeks for teasers, trailers and reveals for some of the very big movies coming out in 2016, but there has been one that’s been conspicuous by its absence. Or it would have been if we hadn’t been inundated with the goodness of Star Trek, Independence Day, and all things Star Wars. Yes, Paul Feig‘s contentious reboot of Ghostbusters has been missing from the mix, and though we aren’t here today with footage, we have something new just the same. An early Christmas present as the funny ladies who form the new quartet of paranormal investigators and eliminators, stand ready to believe you.

That’s Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, Kristen Wiig, and Leslie Jones together in what looks like an early scene from the movie, which seems as if it takes place in the lobby of a hotel. That setting, combined with the odd green glow that is evocative of Slimer, makes it seem like Feig is going to pay tribute to the original Ghostbusters‘ first mission at the fancy upscale Manhattan hotel where they first met the famous ghost. There’s been no firm answer as to whether or not the li’l green spud is going to appear in the film, so we’re not sure if this is confirmation or coincidence.
The next step is to release a trailer, and perhaps that will be a surprise at some point during the holiday season. In the meantime, here’s what Ghostbusters is about officially:
“With paranormal activity on the rise, a Columbia University academic, her ghost-chasing friend, the friend’s business partner, and an MTA employee join forces to bust ghosts and save New York.”
Ghostbusters will be in theaters everywhere on July 15, 2016
