This week brought us a much anticipated sneek peak of the new all-female band of ghostbusters appearing in the upcoming film of the same name.  They look fierce, capable and ready to put those sleek and updated proton packs to good use.  The girls are part of the trend of female-driven action flicks that has been (finally) sweeping Hollywood.  So who are these new ghostbusters?  Leslie Jones, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, and Kristen Wiig.  We know this, yes, but until now, we didn’t know much else.  Director Paul Feig has just released some tidbits about each of his leading ladies, in time with some up close and personal posters that showcase a little of each ghostbuster’s individual personality.

Jones plays Patty Tolan, a “ghost tracker, municipal historian, metaphysical commando”, and looks like the badass of the bunch.  From her self-assured snarl to what appear to be some dog tags, she looks like she means business.  Ghosts better watch out!

McCarthy is Abby Yates, “paranormal researcher, supernatural scientist, entity trapper”.  It is safe to assume we’ll see some of McCarthy’s trademark humor, and her character looks to be the nerdiest of the bunch, which isn’t to say she isn’t tough, too!

Next is McKinnon, playing Jillian Holtzmann, who seems to be the cool kid in the group, if her snazzy glasses and sassy profile are anything to judge by.  Jillian is described as a “nuclear engineer, munitions expert, and proton wrangler”.  Yeah, that sounds pretty cool.

Funny girl Wigg rounds out the group as Erin Gilbert, “particle physicist, academic firebrand, spectral warrior”.  She sounds like the no-nonsense, down to business type, and her poster sure shows her with a determined look on her face.

The ladies are joined by Chris Hemsworth as their dorky secretary, Andy Garcia as the mayor of New York City, and Neil Casey as the villain to be faced.  You can look forward to see the remaining members of the original Ghostbusters making appearances as well, though not as the characters we all know and love.

Ghostbusters hits theaters July 15, 2016.  Are you afraid of some ghosts?
