Now that things have been made clear, here is some Star Wars news for you today.
One of the biggest questions many fans had going in and out of the theater was who exactly is this Snoke character? The most popular fan theory is that he’s none other than Darth Plagueis, a powerful Sith who was mentioned during the prequels. For more clarification, here is what Palpatine says during Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of The Sith,
“Darth Plagueis was a Dark Lord of the Sith so powerful and so wise, he could use the Force to influence the midi-chlorians to create life. He had such a knowledge of the dark side, he could even keep the ones he cared about from dying.”
Thanks to a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Andy Serkis, the man behind Snoke has confirmed that Snoke is none other than “…just Snoke.” He goes on to say that he was completely aware of the events from the prequels, but it turns out Snoke is “a new addition to the storyline.” During that same interview, he revealed a few more characteristics about Snoke which should fuel more theories now that this whole Snoke issue has been partly resolved.
“Supreme Leader Snoke is quite an enigmatic character, and strangely vulnerable at the same time as being quite powerful…Obviously he has a huge agenda. He has suffered a lot of damage. As I said, there is a strange vulnerability to him, which belies his true agenda, I suppose.”
Now that fans know that Snoke is Snoke, the question still lies, “Who is Snoke?” But now what is his agenda? And what about this weakness he has? Is it fluffy bunnies? Who knows? It’s time to start speculating again. There is work to be done until the next installment of Star Wars Episode VIII. The next film is currently filming and due out sometime in 2017.
