Forget Star Wars Episode VII and Episode VIII because news of Episode IX is now making it’s way onto the internet. By now, many of you should just go with the flow and expect these kind of things to happen. In an interview with ET Online and in regards to Rey’s identity,  Episode IX director, Colin Trevorrow (Jurassic World) came out saying “We’re going to make sure that that answer is deeply and profoundly satisfying.” Take that however you want to.

In the same interview, Trevorrow went on to say,

“Rey is a character that is important in this universe, not just in the context of The Force Awakens, but in the entire galaxy. She deserves it. We’ll make sure that that answer is something that feels like it was something that happened a long time ago, far away, and we’re just telling you what happened.”

It looks like the trend of seeing old characters is going to continue into the last movie. The important thing is what they do with those characters. If it turns out to be a rehashing, then fans are not going to be happy. But if they become just pieces of a larger pie, then it may just end up being “satisfying” as Trevorrow says. Not to mention it would be a great way to come full circle as how many great stories end.

Interestingly enough, Trevorrow’s answer doesn’t really answer many of the theories that currently exist. Some of those theories include that she’s either a Skywalker, a Solo, or even a Kenobi. So fans can keep speculating without any issues.

“What’s interesting is I’m not creating a host of new characters…I have a lot of characters that people really love that we’re going to make sure are all honored. No one’s going to be left behind.”

Who could Trevorrow possibly have in mind? It’s no news that Lando will be making an appearance in a future film, but here’s hoping that Wedge will finally want to make an appearance.
