The Deadpool movie won’t premiere in theaters until February 12, 2 days before you have to take your sweetie out on a night of raunchy, R-rated fun. We have already talked extensively about the characters that have made it into the movie’s screenshots, gone over the trailer goodies and even mentioned the petition to make a PG-13 version of the movie. With the first screenings coming up however, so it’s time for the movie to shine on its own merit.
So what does the jury have to say about the Merc with the Mouth’s very own movie?
Mostly, really, overwhelmingly good things.
The screenings held in New York and Los Angeles were originally intended to simply show some footage of the film to the eager fans that had gathered. To their own awe and surprise, the cast and developers that were present during the screening let them know that they would be shown the entire (albeit unfinished) product instead, just because they really, really like them.
The NY screening was introduced by movie star and perpetual hype man, Ryan Reynolds. The Los Angeles event was introduced by 90’s superhero pouch enthusiast Rob Liefeld, superhero grandmaster Stan Lee, TJ Miller (who will be portraying Weasel), the film’s director Tim Miller, screenwriters Rhett Rheese and Paul Wernick, and Brianna Hildebrand (starring as Negasonic Teenage Warhead).
So how did the movie sit with the fans? Pretty damn well, according to their Twitter reactions…
So did 20th Century Fox finally hit it off with a superhero movie? let us know in the comments.
