DC Comics is doing its best to play catch-up in the world of “cinematic superhero shared universes” (try saying that tongue-twister three times fast). In 2016 we’ll be seeing two films from the comic company: August gives us the “bad guy team-up tale” Suicide Squad and March brings Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, where audiences will get their first looks at the big-screen versions of Aquaman, the “new” Affleck Batman, and Wonder Woman. Due in 2017 is a solo outing for Wonder Woman – and thanks to a new DC TV special, we now have our first footage from the film.
In the Dawn of the Justice League one-hour special aired on the CW network, DC recapped the history of their superhero team while dropping some juicy tidbits here and there about their upcoming films. The video below lets you see the Wonder Woman footage as it was presented in the televised special; even though there is in-special voice-over throughout most of it (courtesy of host Kevin Smith), we are given a surprising amount of different shots from different scenes in the film, including our first real look at Steve Trevor, portrayed by Chris Pine.
Take a look-see:
Directed by Patty Jenkins, the film also stars Robin Wright, Danny Huston, Saïd Taghmaoui, David Thewlis, Elena Anaya, Ewen Bremner, and Lucy Davis – in addition to Gal Godot as Wonder Woman herself. The film is scheduled to head to theaters on June 23, 2017.
