AfterShock Comics is a relatively-new startup comic book company that has made some big waves early.  Using veteran comic talent coupled with an Editor-in-Chief, Mike Marts, who has worked on some of the biggest titles in the Marvel and DC lineup, the company has hit the comic shelves by storm and is garnering excellent early buzz.  Later today, NerdBastards will post an exclusive interview with Marts; to whet your appetite until then, dear readers, we’ll share with you news of one of AfterShock’s newest series coming this year: Captain Kid, helmed by longtime comic talent Mark Waid.

The plot of the series is one that many readers will find not only intriguing, but a question that may hit awfully close to home: the main character is a middle-aged comic book fan who is given the ability to transform into a teenaged superhero.  With power such as this, the immediate question becomes: if this happened to you, would you ever change back to your “old self?”

In his exclusive interview with NerdBastards, Marts provided some additional insight and information on the new series:

“We are so excited to have Mark join the AfterShock family.  I’ve known him for years, but the first time we worked together was right when I got to DC, and we did about a year’s worth of ‘Legion of Superheroes’ together.  He is such a creative guy, such a friendly guy, such a comics guy, that it’s hard not to like him, and anytime you work with him, it’s going to be a great experience.”

Fans can expect the new Captain Kid series to debut sometime later this year.  It will be available in both print and digital formats, as it ties in with AfterShock’s other big announcement this week: their entire collection (the company starting producing comics in December 2015) is now available on Comixology and digitally via Amazon.  Check out the “official” press release for more info, and stay tuned for the full interview with Mike Marts to come very soon!
