When you’re a TV show about time traveling superheroes, literally anything is possible, and so shall it be again with Legends of Tomorrow. The DC Comics-based show set in the shared Arrow and Flash universe has already hosted Stephen Amell‘s Green Arrow, Katie Cassidy‘s Black Canary, and Neal McDonough popped up last night as a younger(?) Damien Darhk. So what’s next? How about more Arrow? Teasing an upcoming episodes, one of the show’s executive producer’s is promising a reprise from Green Arrow, just don’t expect it to be the same Green Arrow we see weekly here in the year 2016.
Fans of the Dark Knight Returns and a Green Arrow with more than a day or two’s worth of facial hair take note, because the Oliver Queen on the 2040s is going to be everything you want.
“Every once and a while, we do an episode where the 10-year-old me has to pinch himself,” Marc Guggenheim explained. “We’re not only introducing our version of Connor Hawke to our universe, we’re going to meet the 2046 version of Oliver Queen, and Stephen Amell is going to be reprising his role from Arrow. As an added bonus to comic-book fans, Oliver is missing his left arm and will be sporting a goatee, in a nod to the character’s appearance in the seminal Dark Knight Returns. We think this episode features some of the coolest things we’ve ever done.”
So I guess we know it won’t be Oliver in that grave in the Arrow flash-forward (heh heh). Interesting too that they’re introducing Connor Hawke, thus implying that Oliver will have another son between now and his first Social Security check. But who is the mother? We know that Felicity’s not dying (in the immediate future anyway). And will older Oliver be able to tells us something about those Men of Steel and Dark Knights that Rip Hunter mentioned in the Legends trailer. Episode six looks like it should be a good one.
Legends of Tomorrow airs Thursdays at 8 pm on the CW.
