Once there was a dream – a dream of the much-loved Teen Titans coming to a television channel known as TNT. And then that dream collapsed… TNT decided to dump the idea and those of us who would love to see such iconic DC characters as Nightwing, Starfire and Raven in live-action were left wanting. But there is, just maybe, a light at the end of the tunnel. It appears as if DC hasn’t given up yet. In fact, this turn of events may mean that the Titans end up getting a shot at the big screen instead. Read on to hear what one of the DC gurus has to say on the matter.
As it turns out, the folks at DC knew long before we did that the Teen Titans weren’t getting their own TV show after all. According to DC Entertainment’s CCO Geoff Johns:
We [at DC] have known about [Turner nixing Titans] for months and months and months. That’s not new news to us.
Really? “…not news to us?” Some of us out here in the real world would have liked to know about this so we didn’t get our hopes up, Mr. Johns. Still, his statement does come with a bit of good news:
We have plans for Titans. It’s a huge piece of DC and we have plans.
Plans? Yes, please! Now this may sound like the Titans end up on the big screen, which would be pretty amazing, though it’s just as likely that DC’s been shopping around for other networks who may take the property and run with it. Maybe those loyal bastards at the CW? They’ve done a decent job with Arrow and The Flash, so why not Teen Titans as well?
Either way, it doesn’t look like DC is willing to give up on getting the Titans out there any time soon. So cross your fingers and hope that we get a little more information on when and where we should expect them to show up.
What say thee, O’ Nerd Readers? TV or movie for the Titans? A long, extended run or a chance to play with the big boys in DC’s epic big screen universe?
