There must be something that the studio knows about Kickboxer: Vengeance that the rest of the public doesn’t. The movie (which is set to be released later this year) has yet to make it’s debut, but has already scored a sequel that is currently in pre-production. Aside from that, it’s also cast one of the biggest names in the industry. This person may not have a fire mantle full of acting awards, but he is a very large actor. If you hadn’t guessed by now, the next Kickboxer movie (after Vengeance) will star actor Hafthor Julius Björnsson or better known as Gregor Clegane aka The Mountain from Game of Thrones.

If you’ve ever seen the hit fantasy show, then you’ve probably got an idea as to what The Mountain brings to any kind of setting. This intimidating force will, of course, be playing the main villain in the upcoming Kickboxer: Retaliation. However, because Björnsson is competing in the World Strongest Man competition, filming will have to wait until that is over. As for why the sequel is already being made, according to the report, it’s due to “staggering” early interest. This bodes well for fans of the franchise.

In case you were interested, Björnsson stands at a towering 6’9″ and weighs in at 419 lbs. When compared to Dave Bautista (who’s playing the villain Tong Po in Kickboxer: Vengeance) stands in at only 6’6″ and supposedly weighs in at only 287 lbs. Needless to say, Björnsson is a big guy.

For those of you who don’t know, Kickboxer: Vengeance is a movie that is based upon the original Kickboxer and is almost a complete retelling of the story. However, instead of Van Damme as the hero of the story, he’ll be portraying the man who has to train Alain Moussi’s character for the fight of his life. Let’s face it though, Van Damme will always be the hero in our hearts.

Kickboxer: Vengeance is scheduled to be release later this year.
