When the first trailer for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows hit the web, a new surge of hope for the franchise swept the nation. Even some of the most dedicated members of the Micahel-Bay-ruined-my-childhood bandwagon had to admit that the trailer looked pretty promising. While the first film had some white guy in a suit overshadowing the iconic Shredder, this sequel is delivering much more recognizable characters. So far we’ve gotten a peak at Bebop, Rocksteady, Baxter Stockman and Casey Jones. However, there was a lot of initial speculation of whether or not one of the Turtles’ biggest enemies would be included. Would we finally see the live-action debut of Krang? Thankfully, the answer ended up being a resounding “yes,” and we finally got out first look at our favorite talking brain in tonight’s Super Bowl Spot.

The spot starts off with Raphael asking his brothers what the most important traits of a ninja are. “Speed, stealth and precision,” Leo says right before Mikey wrecks the turtle truck. Mikey reacts like Lucille Ball before she gets scolded by Ricky. Classic turtle humor.

The spot zooms past some already-released footage before revealing the technodrome floating in the sky, ready to wreak havoc on New York City. Cue Krang…

Much like the original television series, Krang is riding in the stomach of a human-esque body. We don’t see much of him, but his big, bulging eye is enough to naturally scare the shell out of Mikey. Looks like the Ninja Turtles have quite a few enemies to go up against.

Krang was confirmed to be in the film back in January, when Micahel Bay complained that an early CG model of him looked like (in his words) “a stupid octopus.” We may not seen a lot of Krang, but that doesn’t look like an octopus. Mr. Bay’s concerns were most likely heard.

Whether or not the sequel will succumb to the “too many villains” syndrome that doomed other films before it is up to debate. The film could either be a big improvement or a big disappointment. However, if this fast-paced and humorous trailer is any indication on what the finished film will be like, Turtle fans can rest easy tonight.
