You can’t stop a lucrative thing from churning out sequels. Whether you love or hate Michael Bay‘s approach to cashing in on 80’s nostalgia, the Transformers movies are a definite hit and as such, have already planned ahead for 3 more sequels, scheduled to hit theaters in 2017, 2018 and 2019 respectively. However, according to Hasbro, a fourth film has currently been greenlighted, to tell the stand-alone tale of one of the second most famous Autobot…
Bumblebee: Check Engine Oil (our speculative title) will shed new light on Earth’s littlest metal defender, following the character’s success after his first appearance in the original Transformers live action film and possibly drawing on a lot of its source material from the new animated series, where Bumblebee recently assumed leadership of the Autobots in Optimus Prime‘s stead.
For the time being, the only lead we have on the film has been provided by Paramount Studios, letting us know that:
“On June 8, 2018, a new film is being developed which will tell the never before heard story of Bumblebee, one of the most beloved characters from Hasbro’s Transformers universe,”
The statement went on a tangent after that, confirming that Michael Bay and Mark Wahlberg will be making a comeback for Transformers 5: Space Jive (again, speculative title) which is to be released on June 23rd, 2017 on the same day as the Wonder Woman stand-alone movie. Unless Warner Bros secures the release date, it’s gonna make for a pretty weird premiere day for both films.
We assume that Bumblebee: Bravest Little Robot will feature the tragic tale of the alien robot runt, his growing hero-worship of Optimus Prime and his coming to terms with his substance abuse problem, while having to lead the Autobots into battle. Also, a forced love story involving a mocaped Megan Fox transformer working for the Decepticons.
