We’re still in the midst of Agent Carter’s adventure through 1947 L.A., but in just a few short weeks, we will be returning to the present and the ongoing adventures of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. When last we left S.H.I.E.L.D., Director Coulson and the gang effed up a HYDRA base where the deranged Gideon Malick (Powers Boothe) was trying to rescue a particularly evil Inhuman through a porthole to a far away planet. With Inhumans and other super-powers running amok, it seems that things are only going to get more intense for the S.H.I.E.L.D. gang, especially with some civil war also coming down the pipe. Here’s a preview…
Now, said preview premiered last night during the action-packed double-stuffed Agent Carter, and the first new episode of the year will be called “Bouncing Back.” The plot is being described thusly: “Their enemy has evolved. Their greatest threat has returned. Can SHIELD reunite the secret warriors to combat a danger unlike any the world has ever seen?” Let’s take a look and see if they can.
Presumably, from this point on we’ll see President William Sadler put more pressure on Coulson to get the super-powered situation under control before he’s force to turn to more drastic measures around the end of April thus leading into the Sokovia Accords and Captain America: Civil War. In the meantime, you are aware that Ward will get eviler now that he’s possessed by the big bad Inhuman, and was able to escape before the portal collapsed. There’s going to be some egg on Coulson’s face when he realizes that choking a guy to death with your bionic hand on an alien world doesn’t work like it used to. S.H.I.E.L.D. will also likely have to squeeze in time to launch the planned Mockingbird/Lance Hunter spin-off Most Wanted as well.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns March 8 at 9 pm on ABC.
