Vanessa Hudgens is no newcomer to super-hero themed roles (she appeared in Sucker Punch- directed by Man of Steel, Watchmen and Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice director Zack Snyder, and Robert Rodriguez’s Machete Kills). NBC’s Powerless will provide her with her first foray into being a bad-ass on the small screen. The half-hour comedy series is based on the world of DC comics, but with a twist. It’s set at an insurance company, where the “powerless” office workers cater to those that have damaged or destroyed property due to superhero battles.Variety has reported that Hudgens has been cast as Emily Locke, an original character, and, “an insurance claims adjuster who loves her job because she gets to help people.” She likes to keep her nose down and get her work done, and is uninterested in the antics of some of her more rambunctious Super Hero co-workers.
Co-starring in the series will be Christina Kirk, and writer Ben Queen will executive produce along with Michael Patrick Jann.
