Today, the 2016 TV Upfronts are taking place, and Nickelodeon will be taking part. One of the shows the network is expected to show off is a movie adaptation of the former children’s game show. According to the report, the movie will be a live action movie.
“In ‘Hidden Temple,’ three siblings must conquer a series of obstacles to remain alive, mirroring the theme of the original game show. The TV movie, slated to appear in the fourth quarter of 2016, will nod to other elements from the original show, including Olmec, a talking head who knows the secrets behind the temple; the Steps of Knowledge, the entrance to the temple and launching pad for the mission; and cameos from a green monkey, red jaguar and silver snakes, among others.”
The one cameo many fans are probably looking for will be the show’s former host Kirk Fogg. According to Fogg’s IMDB page, the man hasn’t really done much since the show. But he was spotted in a 2013 commercial for Volkswagon. Other than a bit of aging, he still looks the same. At this point, he would be 56 years old. It would be awesome if he was some kind of professor or archeologist who helped guide the stars of the movie towards the temple, just like he did on the show.
