While Harrison Ford may have stumbled into the role of Han Solo, the casting of the young Solo in the Star Wars spin-off film will not be left to luck. From a pool of actors that sources tell THR originally numbered over 2,500, Disney recently made the cut from ten down to three. Two notable names that didn’t pass the screen or costume test portion were Miles Teller (Fantastic Four, Whiplash) and Ansel Elgort (Divergent franchise).
The Phil Lord and Christopher Miller directed film now has a very hard choice set out in front of them. Still in the running for young Solo’s role are Taron Egerton (Kingsman: The Secret Service, Eddie the Eagle), Alden Ehrenreich (Hail, Caesar!), and Jack Reynor (Transformers: Age of Extinction, What Richard Did). All three are certainly look the part, and must have withstood some serious competition thus far. It’ll be interesting to see who will get to honor Han in the film!
The Han Solo spin-off film is set for a May of 2018 release.
