Following the long line of 80’s and 90’s shows getting the reboot or reinterpretation CBS has cast Lucas Till as the title character for MacGyver. That show about a guy that can take the contents of your kitchen junk drawer and disarm a bomb, rig a smoke grenade, or perform emergency surgery in a canoe rafting down the Rio Grande. Till, best known as the X-Men’s Havoc in X-Men: First Class and X-Men: Days of Future Past, and the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse.
Fans would hope that Richard Dean Anderson, the original MacGyver, might make a cameo in the new series. There’s certainly room for him to show up.
The new re-imagined series will focus on the 20-something Macgyver and his recruitment into a shadowy organization that prevents attacks and disasters from happening. MacGyver will use his uncanny approach to solving crises with common household products or what ever is at hand.
Surly MacGyver will need an older mentor in the program, Richard Dean Anderson would be perfect for that role.
David Von Ancken, who has directed a ton of television will direct the pilot and executive produce the new series.
