One week ago today, Marvel and Netflix unleashed Daredevil season two. The praise has been very high, as it was for the first season, with laurels for the performances from original cast members Charlie Cox, Deborah Ann Woll and Elden Henson, as well as newcomers Jon Bernthal and Élodie Yung as key Marvel Universe figures the Punisher and Elektra, respectively. Perhaps you’ve enjoyed the series through to completion, perhaps you’re only part of the way, but in any case you’ve probably had one eye open on all the various Easter eggs and references to the comics, to other properties, and all the other corners of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. How far did you get?
Courtesy of Mr. Sunday Movies, is the following video that attempts to cram as many callbacks, references, and Easter eggs into a six-minute video as it can! Obviously spoilers follow, but in case you haven’t make it through to the end of Daredevil season two yet, we’ll simply tease and say that in those episodes there are references to Daredevil’s superhero colleagues from both the big screen and the small screen, callbacks to the seminal three-run of Frank Miller on the original Marvel Comic, and maybe even a tangential connection to Marvel’s fellow Disney franchise, Star Wars.
This is the stuff we love about these Marvel series, parsing every frame and examining every corner for some hint that it’s referring back to something else. So how does your list compare to Mr. Sunday Movies? Well, if you’re done Daredevil, or have no qualm about spoilers, let’s roll tape (so to speak).
All 13 episodes of Daredevil’s second season are now available to stream on Netflix.
