While the digital HD version of J.J. Abrams‘ Star Wars: The Force Awakens hits on April 1st, honest, no April Fool’s Day prank here, the DVD/Blu-Ray hits later next week on the 5th. There are a ton of extras included in the DVD/Blu-Ray including some audition clips like this one with Daisy Ridley and how she landed the lead role of Rey. Here’s some of what director J.J. Abrams had to say about the character Rey and how Ridley’s audition went.
What we were looking for was someone new. This character needed to be vulnerable and tough, sweet and terrified. And to find someone that no one knew who could do all these things took a lot of looking. It wasn’t until we found Daisy that we just felt like she was capable of doing all of these things this character required.
She just blew my mind. She’s reaching this depth of struggle, and tears are streaming down her face. I thought, This is unbelievable.
