If you’re a kid of the 70’s or perhaps your parents are, then you can probably blame Sid & Marty Krofft for some of their funky tastes in strange television shows. Sigmund and the Sea Monsters, Land of the Lost, H.R. Pufnstuf, The Bugaloos, and The Kroft Supershow which included Electra Woman and Dyna Girl warped many a young mind back in the day, as this humble NerdBastard can attest.
Now Legendary Digital is bringing back Electra Woman & Dyna Girl with a digital platform based series that brings the pair into present day. The original series became a cult classic and hopefully, this new incarnation can capture some of the funky 70’s fun the first series is well-known for. Check out the first full trailer for the new series after the jump.
Starring Grace Helbig (The Grace Helbig Show) as Electra Woman and Hannah Hart (My Drunk Kitchen) as Dyna Girl, the new series will be available on digital platforms starting June 7th. Here’s the synopsis:
The story follows two superheroes as they move from Akron to Los Angeles in hopes of making it big in the crime fighting world, only to find competition with other vigilantes and infighting amongst themselves.
Not bad, certainly worth a look when the series hits the Internet. This isn’t the first attempt to bring back Electra Woman & Dyna Girl, back in 2001, WB tried to put something together, but it was incredibly awful, and not that endearing kind of awful that the original looks like today, more of the torches and pitch forks mob type awful.
It starred Markie Post (Night Court) and Anne Stedman (Space Cowboys?) and went full on Beavis and Butthead in tone and humor. Take a look at the un-aired pilot and you’ll know exactly why this never made it to television.
