If there’s a common criticism to the 2014 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles other than “It sucked”, it’s that the four titular martial arts performing adolescent amphibians seemed like supporting players in their own story. Perhaps the filmmakers, and producer Michael Bay, heard that criticism because this latest trailer for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows features a lot of Turtle action. The new poster just released also features the Turtles prominently. May we so bold as to suggest that in the coming sequel, the film will let the four heroes the movie’s named after to finally come “out of the shadows?” [Please clap.]
Okay, so puns aside, this trailer does set up a whole lot of action in the coming sequel, and while the Turtles (Pete Ploszek, Alan Ritchson, Noel Fisher, and Jeremy Howard) do seem to take center stage, it’s a stage they’re going to have to share with many others. Casey Jones (Stephen Amell), Shredder (Brian Tee), Bebop (Gary Anthony Williams), Rocksteady (Stephen “Sheamus” Farrelly), Baxter Stockman (Tyler Perry), and Krang (Fred Armisen), not to mention April O’Neil (Megan Fox) and unwitting cameraman/sidekick Vern (Will Arnett) are all part of the movie too.
That’s the roll call, but what does the trailer look like, and will it generate any more hype for the film when it’s released this summer? Take a gander below:
In addition, here’s the new poster for the film:
The plot synopsis:
Michelangelo, Donatello, Leonardo, and Raphael return to theaters this summer to battle bigger, badder villains, alongside April O’Neil (Megan Fox), Vern Fenwick (Will Arnett), and a newcomer: the hockey-masked vigilante Casey Jones (Stephen Amell). After supervillain Shredder escapes custody, he joins forces with mad scientist Baxter Stockman (Tyler Perry) and two dimwitted henchmen, Bebop (Gary Anthony Williams) and Rocksteady (WWE Superstar Stephen “Sheamus” Farrelly), to unleash a diabolical plan to take over the world. As the Turtles prepare to take on Shredder and his new crew, they find themselves facing an even greater evil with similar intentions: the notorious Krang.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows will be in theaters everywhere on June 3.
