What’s the best way for Marvel to take advantage of all of the media attention focused on the imminent release of Captain America: Civil War? Why, hype up their next project, of course! And that’s just what they did last night on Jimmy Kimmel Live. In the middle of a week dedicated to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the show had Benedict Cumberbatch on to reveal the first trailer for Marvel’s newest hero, Doctor Strange. It is right here and it looks great! After all concerns about Marvel taking on “riskier” properties like Guardians of the Galaxy and Ant-Man were put to rest, fans now expect Marvel to deliver the goods every time and this trailer certainly suggests that the packaging and first class postage have already been taken care of and the goods are well on their way. Without further ado, check the trailer below:
Holy crap, that looks cool, right? It almost looks like some kind of Christopher Nolan mind trip. With credits like The Exorcism of Emily Rose, Sinister, and Deliver Us From Evil under his belt, director Scott Derrickson knows a thing or two about creating a certain mood with evocative images and atmosphere. There were also some great looks at Rachel McAdams, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Tilda Swinton. Overall, it seems as though Marvel is once again delivering something different, which will still be able to fit into the MCU as a whole. Doctor Strange will open up a whole new aspect of the MCU with magic and mysticism as it introduces the Sorcerer Supreme.
Doctor Strange is scheduled to hit theaters everywhere on November 4.
