A new viral video just appeared on our radar, teasing us fans. Made to appear as a 80’s TV special it croons at us with the golden voice of George Takei. Referencing the film Days of Future Past, it brings fans a taste of what is to come. The video starts off with a statement of mutants appearing ten years ago. Then George asks the question.
“What if the first mutant appeared thousands of years ago?”
Then he speaks cryptically about relics found near Giza speaking of the Bringer of Death. A being responsible for the annihilation of millions. Destroying civilizations. And then George asks,
“How can this apocalyptic being vanish from history?”
Check it out for yourself.
This stylish video sets the mood for a fantastic installment into the X-Men franchise. Exploring the background of this First Mutant, En Sabah Nur/ Apocalypse will interest die hard fans and casual movie goers. It remains to be seen how faithful the movie will stick to its comic book origins. Oscar Issac who played Poe Dameron in Star Wars The Force Awakens and Nathan in Ex-Machina should deliver a top notch performance as the main villain, Apocalypse. His four horseman actors, Archangel/ Ben Hardy, Magento/ Michael Fassbender, Storm/ Alexandra Shipp, and Psylocke/ Olivia Munn, will have to deliver top notch acting just to keep up with his screen presence.
This film will have a lot of competition at the box office this year as Captain America: Civil War opens three weeks earlier and Alice, Through the Looking Glass with Johnny Depp opens at the same time. It will take more viral videos like this one to help spread the word and get movie goers into theaters. It remains to be seen if this film will bring the X-Men franchise back to the surface of popularity or sink it into the dark realms of forgotten Marvel legends.
