Ok, folks, it’s been almost a year, and the wait has been brutal. But there are only 5 more days! After dashed hopes of holding Winds of Winter in our hands, Game of Thrones fans can finally have the next best thing: Season 6 of the HBO show. It’s going to go where not even we diehard readers have gone before–we’ll all be as a blind as Arya is now. And it’s kind of great! Oh, the anticipation. If the show is half as enticing as the latest trailer, fans should be pleased. This new trailer, the last one before the season 6 premiere, promises death, war, romance, and more of Melisandre’s boobs. The trailer opens with Jon Snow lying dead on a table, as an unseen character closes his staring eyes. Of course, the fate of Jon Snow is very much up for debate, and has been since the season 5 finale. Kit Harrington, the actor who plays him, has been signed on for this new season, so he still appears in some capacity, probably either as a White Walker or as a resurrected hero.
We then see Tyrion, as he tells someone that no matter where he goes, there is always someone who wants to murder him. That’s what happens when you’re smarter than everyone else in the room, rulers don’t tend to like that. Tyrion is ruling in Dany’s stead, since she fled on the back of her dragon Drogon during the uprising in Mereen. But what has happened to Dany? If you recall, last season ended with her being swarmed by a super tribe of Dothraki. The trailer shows her being captured and whipped. Poor girl can’t catch a break. Jorah Mormont and Daahrio Naharis, the men who love her, are out searching for her, but will they find her and bring her back?
We also get glimpses of the Night’s King and the return of Bran Stark, who is either chatting up or being attacked by a White Walker. There are snippets of Jaime and Cersei as well, for what would the show be without them, other than incest-free? And war and death. There’s lots of war and death. And, as stated before, Melisandre and her breasts.
The premiere of season 6 airs Sunday night at 9pm ET on HBO. The first episode, entitled “The Red Woman” is sure to draw a crowd. Don’t be the only one at the water cooler on Monday who didn’t watch!
