Legendary films and Blizzard Entertainment just released the second Warcraft movie trailer. This video does a much better job conveying the plot and scope of this film. Multiple shots of Stormwind fill the video along with orcs rushing to battle. Paula Patton shines through in her sultry performance as Garona along with Travis Fimmel as Anduin Lothar and Toby Kebbel as Durotan. Dwarves and Griffons make quick appearances along with lots of lightning spells. The army of Stormwind even forms a shield wall! Check it out.
This trailer is filled with lots of win and will make you grin today. Some of you might insanely start up your World of Warcraft accounts feeling nostalgic. The CGI is spot on and feels polished. An image of Dalaran City graces our eyes at 1:13. Hopefully a miniature collectible version of scenes and characters in this film will be available for purchase. (Including a miniature version of Dalaran!)
The idea of a franchise of Warcraft movies, much like Fox’s X-Men and Marvel Studios, should excite every fan and Blizzard executive. Blizzard is banking on this film to revitalize subscriptions to their flagging MMO and new purchases of their product line. It will take more than a single film to bring Blizzard back to their heyday of over 10 million subscribers including Ozzy Osborn, Robin Williams and Mila Kunis. But this is a start in the right direction.
Fans can only hope this movie will live up to the hype and break the wall of horrible movies made from video games. Films like Double Dragon (1994) and Far Cry (2008) show what a movie studio can do with lots of money and no passion for telling stories.
Warcraft takes over movie theaters June 10th 2016.
