It was just last week when Robert Downey Jr. coyly answered Jimmy Kimmel‘s question about Spider-Man: Homecoming saying, “Perhaps I will, we don’t have a contract yet.” Well, THR is now reporting that RDJ has completed talks and has signed the dotted line to appear alongside Tom Holland as he makes his first solo Spider-Man movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
RDJ joins the growing cast that includes Marisa Tomei as Aunt May, Zendaya as one of the as a yet unnamed female character leads, Tony Revolori (The Grand Budapest Hotel), and Laura Harrier (One Life to Live).
Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal of Sony are producing, the two had to have had big parts in the talks that lead to the return of Spider-Man to Marvel’s big screen line-up.
The comic book story of Homecoming also has Captain America (Chris Evans) involved with our favorite web-slinger, but there’s no confirmation or hint beyond rumor that will place the Star Spangled Avenger in the movie yet.
Web-Head and Shell-Head together on the big screen, what else could you ask for? We’re living in the Nerd Age, enjoy it.
