The Ghostbusters movie isn’t the only thing getting a reboot this summer. Starting May 30th, Hi-C Ecto Cooler, the fan favorite drink inspired by 1987’s Real Ghostbusters cartoon will be back on supermarket shelves! Ecto Cooler was discontinued in 2001, but back in November the Coca-Cola company refiled the trademark. And to certify Ecto’s re-entrance into our world, an official tweet was produced.

The packaging of the drink itself got a bit of makeover; Slimer’s image is no longer present on the product, which will be sold in ten packs of 6 oz. juice boxes and in 6 and 12 packs of 11.5 oz aluminum cans. A thermal ink has been added to the cans, that will turn them green when the juice is cold.
Here’s what Charles Torrey, Vice President of Minute Maid/Hi-C Brands and Coca-Cola North America had to say about the drink’s comeback:
“Hi-C Ecto Cooler fueled a pop culture phenomenon that is well remembered and beloved by fans to this day. Sony Pictures was extremely enthusiastic about bringing it back for this special occasion, and the timing of the upcoming Ghostbusters film made this the exact right time.”
And here’s one of Ecto Cooler’s old commercials to get you in the retro spirit!
