99% of the time, when there is Ryan Reynolds or Deadpool related news, readers are in for at least a chuckle. Today, however, it is a bit different. Earlier this week, 13 year old Connor McGrath, a Deadpool fan who also happened to be the first person to see the film, passed away after a brave, fierce battle with cancer. Reynolds met the young man thanks to the always amazing Make-A-Wish Foundation. From the heartfelt tribute Reynolds posted to his Facebook page last night, it seems that meeting Connor was just as special to the star as it was to the young Canadian.
Reynolds took to his Facebook page to deliver the sad news last night and, really, the post is more than a bit heartbreaking. Connor bravely fought cancer for three years and during those years, he and Reynolds became very close, even becoming friends. Considering Reynolds’ comments regarding the young fighter, the world has definitely lost a very special person. Grab a Kleenex and have a read of the post, yourself.
We at Nerd Bastards offer our sincere condolences to the McGrath family and agree with Reynolds in urging those with a bit of scratch to burn to consider donating to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. If you missed the link in the Facebook Post, here it is, one more time.
Rest in peace, Connor, and thank you for being an inspiration to the rest of us.
