It’s only twenty months until the as-yet-untitled sequel to Star Wars: The Force Awakens (several sources claim that the words ‘Star Wars‘ will be somewhere in the title) is released, so of course it’s time to start gearing up for it. Star Wars fans should already have their appetites whetted for more information with the recent release of Force Awakens on DVD and Blu-Rey (pun!) and the great-looking trailer for Star Wars: Rogue One that bunched the panties of the kind of misogynists who would be genuinely outraged at being called misogynists. Well, prepare to have those appetites sated and check out the photos that were released by director Rian Johnson below.

Johnson recently released the photos via his Tumblr account along with the interesting declaration that they’re halfway through shooting the movie. The photos don’t show a whole lot. They’re mostly a guy wiping down the set with a microfiber sham, but that’s pretty funny for the first photos released. With one of the pictures, Johnson paraphrased Bruce Campbell in Army of Darkness, saying:

“‘Good. Bad. I’m the guy with the microfiber sham.’ I can’t believe we’re halfway through the shoot. (We’re halfway through the shoot!)”

And now the microfiber sham photos:

It’s good to know that Johnson is making sure his set is properly shammed before shooting. Not all directors follow that simple rule of directing. Johnson has already directed some great, offbeat movies like Brick and Looper. It’ll be interesting to see what he brings to the Star Wars franchise. In addition to the actors portraying the surviving characters from Force AwakensStar Wars 8 will star Benicio del Toro, Laura Dern, and Kelly Marie Tran in unspecified roles.

Fans will just have to wait for more information about the movie than that. Disney better hurry up, though; they only have more than a year and a half to drum up excitement for one of the most anticipated movies of all time.

What do you think Star Wars 8 will deliver? Are you excited for microfiber sham?
