It looks like everyone can finally calm down. Disney has found it’s new Han Solo. News just broke that Alden Ehrenreich will play the younger version of Harrison Ford in the new Star Wars stand-alone movie. For those unfamiliar with his work, Ehrenreich was recently scene in the movie Hail Caesar! where he played a singing Western actor who had been thrown into a period drama. Prior to that, his list of accomplishments is rather small, having been on television a couple of times and in other shorts.

Those who have seen the movie Hail Caesar! will have seen Ehrenreich give a solid performance playing an actor trying to accomplish the impossible and playing a character within two genres at the same time. Take a look at this great scene from the movie.

It’s a simple scene, but with complex dialogue. Another great thing about casting Ehrenreich is how unknown he is because there is really nothing to compare him to. Which means there should be no harsh criticism going into the movie. Although, this being the world that it is, someone out there will find something to complain about. In a likelihood, you could always complain about how he may look nothing like a young Harrison Ford, but there’s no wrong or write answer.

As far as the story for the Han Solo is concerned, there’s no news about it. The Exapanded Universe was de-canonized by Disney in 2014. While many saw this as a financial decision, it was probably done to avoid as much confusion as possible for those who didn’t know much about it in the first place. Although elements of the EU were borrowed and used in The Force Awakens, there’s a good chance that the same thing will happen in the Han Solo movie.

There is no set date for the release of the stand-alone Han Solo movie.
